ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Fire Chief plans and directs activities related to fire suppression, fire prevention, and emergency medical response and develops long-range plans for meeting fire suppression needs of the city. The Fire Chief develops policies and procedures for the inspection of fire scenes and inspections for fire prevention, reports cases of suspected arson and other unusual emergencies to the appropriate local, state and federal agency as required by law and regulations. The Fire Chief also reviews the budget to ensure compliance with budget guidelines, recommends budget for capital improvements including new stations and major equipment purchases.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science and/or administration or any equivalent combination of training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities and 10-15 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of seven years of management experience.
